Echoes, Kolkata

This place will ECHO in your mind for a long time and will invite you to be back again and again.

Echoes Kolkata debuted in Kolkata after successful franchises at Delhi and Bengaluru. It has antique/vintage decor defining the interiors and you would be spoilt for choice as to where to sit for the evening. The USP of this place is the staff. For those of you who don’t know, the staff here has hearing and speech impairments. Hence, sign languages rule the roost here. But that does not debar the place from being exceptionally good.

The staff is incredibly zealous and always has a smile on their face. A bell has been placed on every table to seek the attention of the waiters. Then there are cue-cards placed on the table with which you can ask them what you want. Each item on the menu has a unique code. You can use these codes to write down your order and hand it over to the waiters. This process might sound a bit lengthy, but thanks to the amazing training, it is extremely smooth.

We started off with the Hummus and Pita, that was plated very beautifully. The hummus was garnished well and like-sized pita breads were placed evenly in a circular plate. The plates gave a feel like a canteen plate, those that come with a deep niche and blue colored rim.

Baked Cheesy Nachos came in next. Gooey mozzarella cheese was loaded on to a bed of nachos and served with salsa sauce. It was baked to perfection. The nachos were crisp and salsa added a tangy twist to the dish. Veg Steamed Momos and Spring Rolls made their way next. The momos were huge sized and served with two different sauces. The sauces were spicy and tangy, and perfectly complemented the stuffed momos. The spring rolls were crispy and the fillings were extremely delicious.

We had also ordered the Veg and Non Veg Platters, both named Kebabs, Kebabs and Kebabs. This was THE BEST Kebab Platter I have ever had. I had platters in a number of places, but some of the items didn’t taste good. Whereas, this kebab platter had each item better than the other. The aroma and flavor of the BBQ could be felt with every bite. This is the perfect Kebab Platter.

This was followed by the Serial Killer Burger, that had an awesome chicken patty, served with peri peri fries and jalapeno mayo sauce. Another tasty item.

Serial Killer Burger. I couldn’t resist to dig in.

With literally no space available in our stomachs, we still tried to get our hands on Peri Peri Signature Tray at Echoes. This was a spicy dish with peri peri bits of chicken, and served with rice, wok tossed veggies and a slice of garlic bread. Although the chicken was a bit sour, but was complemented well with the rice and veggies. The Hakka Noodles was prepared well.

Overall, this is the A-List restaurant that one can lay his hands upon. With a beautiful ambiance, exquisite food and an unparalleled service, you can hardly find anything better than this. Moreover, there is hookah / shisha also available for the patrons who love smoking it out. The cocktails are fantastic too. They have made a fusion of Indian  flavors and regular cocktails and made a superb list of concoctions to choose from.
