Out of the many restaurants in the Sector V hub of Salt Lake, Sly Fox stands out in terms of ambiance, classy decor, superb mocktails and food.
Situated in the Globysn Crystals complex, that already houses established restaurants of Kolkata like Bhojohari Manna, 6 Ballygunge Place, Banana Leaf and the likes, Sly Fox Gastro Pub has a very unique and catchy European Decor, just like it’s name. It has a very high ceiling studded with candle chandeliers, wooden walls and elegant decor. There is a live DJ, who unfortunately was playing lame music on a Saturday eve. Alcohol is not yet available here.

What I liked about this place is the brilliant presentation style of the dishes, especially the marquee ones. Their service is up-to-the-mark as well. The servers are well-versed with the menu and you can easily rely on them to suggest fantastic food to eat.
The evening started with Daawat-E-Kebab, a platter of kebabs including Punjabi Paneer Tikka, Dahi Kebab, Hara Bhara Kebab and Aloo Moshai. The kebabs were served inside a bird cage constituted of 2 layers. The top one housing the kebabs and the lower level having the coriander and garlic chutneys on a bed a grated carrots. Very unique and remarkable. The kebabs were good, but were dry. The Paneer Tikka stood no chance here, and was dry.

Next up was the Foxy Dimsums. A colorful bunch of dimsums served in a wooden utensil along with chilli oil and bean sauce. The fillings were the same in all 6 dimsums, but the colors differed. A colorful affair.

I had heard about their mocktails and went on ordering the Orange Mojito and Freak Shakes. This was the first time I had my hands on the freak shake. It was LOADED! Loaded with gummy bears, kitkat, chocolate wafer rolls, Cadbury Gems, Mini Oreos and a marshmellow. It was like a kids’ fantasy come true. It was a delight to have. The Orange Mojito was prepared brilliantly as well.

We signed off the evening with Ravioli Rose Pasta. The creamy texture of the sauce with the right amount of cheese and perfectly cooked raviolis were a treat to have. It was a great preparation for a pasta.

Overall, the classy ambiance gives a nice look and feel to the place. There is a massive live-sports screen on top of the wall. There are amazing posters, framed up on the wall, that are inspired from Hollywood movies. The courteous service and delectable food makes this place a must-visit in the list of restaurants in Kolkata. Prior reservations are recommended. You have board games and foosball to pass time as well.
