If you want the feel of modern Kolkata, then K Local is the place. Situated on the 2nd Floor rooftop of C Block, City Centre, is a lounge and kitchen, K Local. The decor and theme gives the feeling of elementary Kolkata, with a yellow taxi door fixed on the entrance wall, decals which give the look and feel of old Calcutta and the likes. But once inside, there is no resemblance whatsoever to Kolkata. It is a modern lounge with a tables inside, cabanas and gazebos outside.
The place is divided into a mocktail bar, the lounge space and an open rooftop space with a projector screen. There is shisha available as well. The DJ plays good music to keep your adrenaline high. What I really liked was the retro floor lighting that greets you when you enter through the first gate.
Since this was a party invite, so I am not sure about the items on the menu that I had. For the starters, it was Crispy Chilli Babycorn. It was prepared with a semi-gravy touch, was a bit spicy (to my liking) and served crisp upon arrival.
Then came the Thin Crust Pizza, with a humble topping of Mozzarella Cheese, Capsicum & Bell Peppers. The Pizza was okayish if I would say. It would be good for thin crust pizza lovers.
The main course is what pulled me through. The garlic naan was really soft and impressive. The rotis were stiff at times. For the veggies, the highlight was the Dal Makhani. I mean, Dal Makhani has to be so good that it sets your mood right. Then it was Paneer Butter Masala, where the paneer was diced into bite-sized pieces, with a not-so-thick gravy. Next up, was Punjabi Lajawab Aloo. It was very spicy and small cut pieces of potatoes marinated into a thick gravy. It was full of flavours and aroma.
The plating was very humble and the portion sizes cannot be complained about. The food quality is good. So if you are searching for a good place for hanging and chilling out, K Local in City Centre is your answer.
