Raize The Bar, Kolkata

Woah! Someplace has raised the bar for the standard eating joints in Kolkata.

The collection of cocktails and mocktails is classic. Tucked in the ground floor of Godrej Waterside in Sector V, a lavish brewery awaits patrons. When inside, you can see the beer brewing on the right and tables & smoking rooms on the left. There is a huge bar upfront with high chairs, and the place has been done up with wooden furniture all over. Designer ceiling lights and bulbs adorn the lighting system. There is a separate space on the left which is ideal for a buffet party of around 30-40 persons.

For the food. Hats off to the chef and the team who have worked wonders in the kitchen. The main course is absolutely wonderful, be it teriyaki platter or pasta or khou suey. I have tried many dishes here, my favorite being crispy chilly fish and burnt garlic fired rice. The burnt garlic fried rice is served with Manchurian and kimchi salads. With a lingering aftertaste, it was wonderful to have. The portion size of the rice isn’t that much, but depends on the number of starters you had before.

Burnt Garlic Fried Rice with Manchurian

Crispy corn kernels, a fav dish of many and a mandatory starter for my wifey. It was cooked perfectly keeping in mind the crispness of the kernels. They were deep fried until  perfect golden brown.

The Lebanese Platter was completely not worth it. It lacked any taste and was bland. The hummus was not cooked properly, so no numbers for this dish.

Next up was the Penne Pasta. It was cooked brilliantly with the right amount of cheese and cream. A humble serving of garlic bread and chocolate sauce strewn over the plate was an attractive display. It is highly recommended.

Thanks to the amazing pipped music being played here, it was joyful experience here. The bartenders are also proficient in their work. The craft beers are a must have if you fancy some. The cocktails are real good, especially the Long Island Ice Tea. We had the pitcher and boy, were we amazed. This lounge attracts a trendy crowd and during weekends, it is hard to find a seat here. Parking space is available on the main road as well as the parking lot of Godrej Waterside building. There is a smoking room as well for those who want to take a puff.
